Bosch eBike Innovations for 2018

Bosch have once again stepped up their game for 2018, showing why they are the market leaders for electric bike systems.  All their software upgrades are backwards compatible, so current Bosch eBike owners can do a software update hassle free from their own home.

Let’s take a look at what we can expect for the coming 2018 season:

Bosch Active Line 2018

The Active Line system is designed for riders after comfort, quietness and smoothness. It’s very good for commuting, city traveling and light leisure rides. All of Bosch’s eBikes have an exceptionally smooth power delivery, and this is ever present in their ‘entry level’ system.

For 2018, the Bosch Active Line system’s overall size has decreased by 25%. The old internally geared model has been reverted to a big sprocket, meaning a lighter and more efficient motor with an increased range.

Bosch Active Line Plus 2018

The Active Line Plus is a slightly sportier version. The smaller system is slightly more agile with a weight of only 3kg. Look forward to discovering new places with a virtually silent system with a good 50Nm of torque when maxing out.

The design also features an external sprocket opposed to last year’s internal gearing, which makes for a much smoother and quieter ride with an increased range.

New eMTB Mode For Performance CX

The Bosch Performance CX system still stands tall at the very top of the eBike game, with a highly intuitive and powerful balance which is great for sporty off-road riding.

Assistance goes up to 300% and peaks at 80Nm of torque, which certainly packs some heat! The new system replaces the sport mode, and is an automatic responsive mode that switches between Tour and Turbo depending on the terrain you are riding.

The new mode is available for all current Bosch CX systems from 2016 to 2017 via a software update that will be available from 1 st August.

Bosch PowerTube 500 2018 Battery

Bosch eBikes will be available from 2018 with a new PowerTube, integrated into the electric bike frames, so we can expect some beautiful looking eBikes next season! As the battery is located within the frame, it is also protected from any exterior damage.

The battery will be able to be easily taken off the bike to charge separately, where it will take 3 hours to fully charge.

Other Updates for 2018

e-Shift

The integrated, electronic e-Shift gear shifting solution ensures riding comfort, safety, a longer range and reduced wear. The automatic gear for hubs or especially for eMountain bikes with the electronic derailleur systems Shimano XTR Di2 and Shimano Deore XT Di2. eShift offers an excellent solution for different applications and Bosch product lines.

Nyon

Nyon, the all-in-one eBike on-board computer, can now do even more: With new map material, new features for route planning, altimeter preview, precise battery usage information and an improved display of the rider’s own sporting performance, it is more dynamic than ever before.

We are very much looking forward to bringing you these new features for next season. Stay tuned for more exciting news!
