14th of September is Cycle to Work Day!

Cycle to Work Day is a national event designed to encourage staff to commute to work by bicycle.

Cycling popularity is rising, particularly among commuters who are seeking an alternative to crowded trains or buses. Notably, Transport for London reported a major improvement in cyclist numbers as the ratio of cars:bikes in Central London fell from 11:1 in 2000, to 1.7:1 in 2014. Similarly, the Scottish Government are eager to promote cycling and have set a target for 10% of all commuter travel to be made by bike in 2020.

Nonetheless, despite these promising figures, millions of Brits rarely or never cycle. Cycling has the potential to reduce pollution, improve national health levels, reduce commuting times and ease the pressure on existing transport systems. Cycle to Work Day is a great opportunity to change your normal routine and commute by bike! Previous Cycle to Work Days have see thousands of commuters taking to the roads and this year we hope to see even more employees and employers getting involved.

If you are an employer this is a great opportunity to encourage your employees to participate too. Raise awareness and spread the word, run an event in the office or offer an incentive to take to two wheels for the day.

Competition

Fully Charged are keen to know what you are doing for Cycle to Work Day and to see as many e-bikes as possible too! We will be running a competition open to all e-bike riders on the day and would love you to share a photo of yourself cycling or your e-bike on the day to be in with the chance of winning a prize.

Post your photo to us on Facebook, tag us on Instagram (@FullyChargedUK) or email to info@fullycharged.com. We will announce the lucky winner shortly after, so stay tuned.
