Top 10 Hybrid Electric Bikes of 2022
Who doesn’t like the best of both worlds? If you’re looking for an all-terrain cruiser, then you’re in the right place with these ten options below from the world’s best manufacturers. Let’s take a look at this year's A-List hybrid electric bikes.
Riese & Müller Homage
With 29 years of experience in the industry, Riese & Müller have always been at the forefront of integrating only the very best in eBike technology, whilst maintaining innovative design, exceptional build quality and masterful craftsmanship.
The German brand produced an engineering triumph with the Homage, combining full-suspension with a low step-through frame to allow for easy handling and supreme comfort, whether that’s in city traffic or long rides and exciting tours.
It’s chunky, powerful physique commands respect, with two fully integrated 625WH batteries in the downtube, offering limitless range, and striking lines to its carrier. The Homage is perfectly set up for weekday commuting but thrives across multiple terrains, be them canal paths, bridleways and even the occasional trail on a hillside adventure.
Moustache Samedi 27 Xroad 7 FS
The Samedi 27 Xroad 7 FS is Fully Charged’s best selling eBike. With the bike now in its sixth year of production, French ‘Born Electric’ brand Moustache wanted to create an electric bike that could glide effortlessly through the city or town street, whilst being able to tackle any mountain, up or downhill. And thus the Samedi 27 Xroad 7 FS was born.
This is the perfect jack-of-all-trades option, with the ‘Xroad’ quite literally being translated as 50% urban and 50% eMTB.
By giving this beautiful bike full suspension, the best-in-class Bosch technology, and great rear rack capability, you’ve got an electric bike that is truly capable of being your all-day, everyday ride.
Riese and Müller Delite
The Delite is the ultimate level of luxury and refinement, 24/7.
The Delite can cruise in quiet comfort on the city streets, but explode into a wild explorer with excellent multi-terrain capability thanks to its full-suspension, or what Riese and Müller like to call ‘Control Technology’.
We love nothing more than when our team endorse the bikes we sell, with Tristan, our Silverstone Director, having a Delite himself! Check out this video to understand how durable, low maintenance and comfortable this bike is.
Super73-RX
Warning. This is no ordinary electric bike. Founded in 2016 in California, Super73 fuses motorcycle heritage and youth culture together, and is fast pioneering a new approach to help re-define the eBike industry.
The RX is the Dennis Rodman of the electric bike industry, it’s rebellious and yet brilliantly engineered, to give you supreme comfort and control on the streets of your local town, as much as adrenaline-fuelled rides out if you’re looking for an adventure.
Vintage Electric Scrambler
Just admit it to yourself, you want one. Hey, even we want one! The Scrambler is without doubt one of the coolest, gnarliest electric bikes you’ll ever see, hand-crafted from the Vintage Electric team in California.
The company has gone to incredible lengths to give it the attention it deserves, with VE even carving out its own aluminium housing for a whopping 52V lithium battery.
New for 2022 the Vintage Electric Scrambler now packs a 72 volt motor. It is delivered in a conforming mode for road use, but there is a race-mode option with a throttle which is available to use on private land with express consent of the landlord.
Moustache Xroad 1
Nicknamed “The Chameleon”, this bike is built to blend in almost anywhere. A dynamic frame combines the capabilities of an urban eBike with an electric mountain bike.
The Xroad 1 represents the entry point into the Moustache family, benefitting from the heralded Moustache frame quality, it is natural, quiet and economical. It’s also equipped with all the essentials like integrated lights, MIK racks, super strong aluminium mudguards and a kickstand.
The versatile all-rounder, the Moustache Samedi 28.2 is made for pootling about with a highly agreeable upright riding position. It’s capable of light off-roading on bridleways and canal paths, but not quite at home in the forest.
With it’s Bosch Active Line Plus motor, Shimano Altus Drivetrain and hydraulic disc brakes, it’s an ideal companion for getting about on a daily basis and offers a great way to get into the sport of electric biking, without breaking the bank.
Tern HSD S8i
The Tern HSD is a true adventure mobile. With a rear rack that can carry up to 65kg worth of cargo, this is the bike for ‘hauling stuff daily’, be that camping equipment, kids, or even a 4 legged animal friend.
A long wheelbase and extra-low center of gravity result in a smooth and stable ride, even when carrying a load.
The HSD also benefits from a humongous array of accessories, so you can customise the bike to suit your needs!
Benno Boost-E
The Benno Boost-E is capable of carrying 3X more than your standard bike, with a maximum gross vehcle weight of 200kg! This combined with the best-in-class Bosch system makes light work of even the toughest hills.
The Boost-E has won multiple awards for it’s interchangeable rear rack and rail system.
While the Boost-E is capable of cross country riding, with robust tyres and a rigid frame, the lack of suspension will be noticeable if you head to bumpier terrain. Benno have coined a term for their Boost – Etility.
Gazelle Ultimate C380
A sneak peak into the newest member of the Fully Charged family this year. The Gazelle Ultiamte C380 is a beautiful hybrid bike, for that price point.
Enviolo gearing, Performance Line motor, Shimano hydraulic disc brakes and a beautifully shaped aluminium frame lay the foundations for another bike that’s in the ‘sweet-spot’ between the eMTB and Urban categories. Stay tuned for more information!
